Exhibit description | Liudviko II Jogailaičio (1506–1526) Svidnicos pusgrašis. Aversas. Centre – iškėlęs sparnus erelis. Aplink, vaizdulio pakraščiu, legenda lotynų kalba: „ +LVDOVICVS:R[ex]:VN[garie]:ET∙BO[emie]:“. Vertimas pažodžiui: „Liudvikas karalius, Vengrijos ir Bohemijos“. Reversas. Centre – karūna. Aplink legenda lotynų kalba: „+CIVITAS∙SWIEN[ie]∙ … “. Vertimas: „Miesto Svidnicos, [?]“. Dėl išdilimo ar netaisyklingo kaldinimo – neįskaitoma data. Aversas ir reversas, išskyrus legendas, analogiški Lenkijoje kaldintiems pusgrašiams. Liudvikas II Jogailaitis – Vengrijos ir Čekijos karalius (1516–1526) ir paskutinis Jogailaičių dinastijos valdovas valdęs Bohemiją ir Vengriją, žuvęs Mohačo (1526) mušyje su Osmanų imperija. Vladislovo II Jogailaičio sūnus, Kazimiero Jogailaičio vaikaitis. Svidnicos pusgrašiai buvo pradėti kaldinti dėl prekybinių ir dinastinių ryšių su Lenkijos karalyste ir Lietuvos Didžiąja Kunigaikštyste. Svidnicos pusgrašiai buvo apie 10 proc. lengvesni nei kaldinami Krokuvos kalykloje, kas sukėlė debatus apie pinigų vertę. Kaip manoma, tai inspiravo Žygimantą Senąjį (nuo 1518 m.) ne tik riboti prekybinius ryšius su Silezija ir taip sustabdyti monetų plitimą, bet ir užsakyti Mikalojų Koperniką 1526 m. parašyti traktatą „Monetae cudendae ratio“ („Apie monetų kaldinimą“), kuriame apmąstoma pinigų vertė ir perkamoji galia. Vidurio Europoje traktato palikimas, kartu su vienalaikiu britų mąstytojo Thom'o Greshamo darbais, žinomas kaip „Koperniko-Greshamo dėsnis“. Svidnicos pusgrašius Lenkijoje nesėkmingai buvo siekiama išimti iš apyvartos įvairiais įstatymais ir nutarimais (pvz. 1526 m. Seime nustačius naujų Lenkijos monetų 325. sidabro prabą, kurios Svidnicos biloniniai pusgrašiai neatitiko). Valstybėje buvo įsteigti ir supirkimo punktai, tačiau tai iki galo nesustabdė šių monetų plitimo. LDK teritorijose apyvartoje cirkuliavo dar mažiausiai iki 1547 m pinigų reformos.
