Exhibit description | 1597 m. Vilniuje buvo pastatyta medinė Šv. Dvasios cerkvė. Privilegiją mūrinei Šv. Dvasios cerkvei statyti 1633 m. suteikė Lietuvos Lenkijos karalius Vladislovas Vaza. Šv. Dvasios atsiuntimo titulo cerkvė baigta 1638 m. Tai buvo barokinė trinavė, lotyniško kryžiaus plano bazilika su kupolu, dvibokščiu fasadu ir plačiu barokiniu frontonu. Prie cerkvės šiaurinėje pusėje buvo pastatyta varpinė. 1749 m. cerkvė nukentėjo nuo gaisro. Ją rekonstravo žymus Vilniaus baroko architektas Jonas Kristupas Glaubicas (1737–1767). Vietoje sudegusio jis pastatė barokinį ikonostasą, banguotais karnizais suskaidytą į tris mažėjančius tarpsnius, papuoštą kolonomis ir skulptūromis. XIX a. cerkvė sulaukė dar vienos rekonstrukcijos. V. Drėmos teigimu, po 1864 m. sukilimo generalgubernatorius N. Muravjovas išleido potvarkį „likviduoti lotyniškos dvasios liekanas cerkvių architektūroje“. 1873 m. vietoje žemo, paslėpto po stogu, būdingo ankstyvajam barokui kupolo pastatytas naujas, iškeltas ant aukšto būgno. Pakeistas ir fasadas – nugriautos voliutos ir banguotas frontonas tarp bokštų, kuris dar matyti 1834 m. gatvės išklotinėje. Vėlyvojo baroko formų varpinė perstatyta klasicizmo stiliumi. 12 ikonostaso paveikslų šiai cerkvei sukūrė iš Peterburgo į Vilnių atvykęs tapytojas Ivanas Trutnevas. Jo sukurtas spalvotas litografinis šios cerkvės vaizdas pasižymi detaliu, dokumentišku piešiniu, tiksliai atkuriančiu ne vien cerkvės architektūros ypatumus, bet pateikiantis ir dėmesingai užfiksuotą tuometinio Vilniaus fragmentą – su aplinkiniais pastatais, charakteringais gyventojų tipažais. |
