Exhibit description | Estampas iš serijos, skirtos romėnų literato Ovidijaus (Publius Ovidius Naso, 43 m. prieš Kr. - 17 m. e. m.) poemai „Metamorfozės” (tarp II ir VIII m. e. a.). Leidinys su iliustracijomis pasirodė Amsterdame 1732 m. ir atspaustas Wetsteino ir Smito spaustuvėje in folio formatu. Be alegorinių frontispisų, vinječių, inicialų jame buvo įdėta net 141 įvairių autorių iliustracija. Knyga perpasakoja graikų ir romėnų mitus, o joje plėtojami įvykiai nuo pasaulio sukūrimo iki Julijaus Cezario apoteozės. Scena vaizduoja ištroškusią deivę Latonę su dviem kūdikiais, atėjusią atsigerti prie ežero. Likiečiai neleido jai numalšinti troškulio jų ežere, todėl keršydama ji paverčia juos vatrliagyviais. Estampo štrichuotė laisva, meistriška, linija smulkutė, puikiai perteikianti šviesos ir šešėlio žaismą daiktų paviršiuje ir atkurianti tikrovišką erdvės įspūdį. Aprašė Ilona Mažeikienė |
