Exhibit description | Laiškas knygnešio, publicisto, Susivienijimo lietuvių Amerikoje (toliau S. L. A.) nario Juozo Adomaičio-Šerno (1859-1922). Tekstas parašytas lietuvių kalba, ant vieno balto popieriaus lapo, kuris buvo sulenktas du kartus: vertikaliai ir horizontaliai. Laiškas adresuotas S. L. A. Literatiškam komitetui. Laiške rašoma apie S. L. A. istorijos rašymą ir publikavimą. Tekste minimas laikraštininkas ir vertėjas Juozapas Laukys (1866-1947), kuriam skirta užduotis parašyti S. L. A. istoriją. Toliau. J. Adomaitis-Šernas mini, kad yra kalbėjęs su J. Laukiu, kuris sutiko pataisyti rengiamą istoriją taip, kaip jam bus nurodyta Literatiško komiteto. Taip pat laiške minimas S. L. A. Centro valdybos sekretorius (1899-1904 m.) Tomas Astramskas (1853-1921), kuris, kaip teigiama laiške, pristatė medžiagą ir dokumentus, susijusius su minėtosios istorijos rašymu. Laiške trumpai paminimas ir Petras Mikolainis (1868-1934). Laiško pabaigoje J. Adomaitis Šernas teigia išsiuntęs istorijos rankraštį, o jam negrįžus, nebežinantis apie jo buvimo vietą. |
