Exhibit description | Vertikalaus formato spalvotame devociniame paveikslėlyje ¾ figūros vaizduojama šv. Kotryna Aleksandrietė – šventoji mergelė kankinė, filosofų, mokinių ir mokyklų globėja, Aleksandrijos princesė (IV a.). Už savo tikėjimą ji buvo pasmerkta kankinimams, jos kūną sudraskant ratu su geležiniais smaigais. Kai ratas stebuklingai subyrėjo, jai buvo nukirsta galva. Šv. Kotryna vaizduojama kaip jauna ir graži mergina, puošniais, jos rangui derančiais rūbais, su karūna ir aureole aplink galvą. Kairėje rankoje ji laiko palmės šakelę (bendrą kankinių atributą), abiem rankom – kalavijo, kuriuo buvo nukirsdinta, rankeną, o jos dešinėje vaizduojamas ir individualus atributas – kankinimo ratas su smaigais. Devocionalijos apačioje – gėlių pynė (rožės simbolizuoja kankinių kraują, lelijos – skaistumą), žemiau pynės – užrašas „Šventa Kotryna Kankytinė.“. Kairiajame apatiniame devocinio paveikslėlio kampe nurodyta išleidimo data ir leidėjas: „1906. J. A. C.“ – Juozas Angrabaitis (1859–1935), knygnešys, bibliografas, publicistas. Devocionalija išleista Krokuvoje. Pagal analogus ir stilistiką galima spėti, jog „Šv. Kotrynos Aleksandrietės“ originalo, pagal kurį buvo išleista devocionalija, autorius yra vokiečių tapytojas Fridolin‘as Leiber‘is (1853–1912), sukūręs daugybę populiarių religinių spaudinių. Galima originalo sukūrimo data – XIX a. 9–10 deš. Devocinio paveikslėlio reverse – ištrauka „Pasarga“ (įspėjimas, nurodymas) iš jėzuito, rašytojo, teologo, pirmojo Vilniaus akademijos rektoriaus Petro Skargos (1536–1612) veikalo „Šventųjų gyvenimai“ (1579). Žemiau – „Malda prie savo patronkos.“ – malda tikinčiojo pasirinktai šventajai globėjai. Abu tekstai atspausdinti lietuvių kalba. |
