Exhibit description | Manoma, kad religinės tematikos gobelenas „Kaino ir Abelio aukojimas“ buvo išaustas Žano Leinjė (Jean, Jan Leyniers, 1630–1686) dirbtuvėse Briuselyje. Vertingas gobelenas buvo kuriamas pagal Michilio Koksio I (Michiel I Coxcie, Coxie, 1499–1592) kartoną. Senojo Testamento pradžios knygoje rašoma, kad Ievai su Adomu gimė sūnus Kainas, o vėliau – Abelis. Kainas buvo žemdirbys, o Abelis tapo piemeniu. Gobeleno pirmojo plano kairėje vaizduojamas pasisukęs į aukurą ir iškėlęs rankas Abelis. Šalia jo vaizduojama gyvulių banda, o kitoje pusėje angelo figūra. Kompozicijos dešinėje – palinkęs link žemės Kainas, už kurio stovi moteris. Avikailis, dengiantis moters galvą, simbolizuoja nekaltybę, o tarp suknelės klosčių matoma vilko galva – žiaurumą. Viršuje tarp debesų iškyla Dievo atvaizdas, o antrajame plane dešinėje matomas antrasis aukuras, iš kurio kamuoliais kyla dūmai. Scenos šonuose stovi dvi masyvios besisukančios kolonos, puoštos augalų puokštėmis. Viršuje ir apačioje gelių ir vaisių pynės. Gobelenas pilnas ženklų, kurie pasakoją dviejų brolių istoriją. Kainas ir Abelis aukojo Dievui aukas, tačiau Viešpats maloniai pažvelgė į Abelio auką, o į Kainą ir jo aukas nepažvelgė. Tai atsispindi gobelene – iš Abelio aukuro dūmai eina lygiai, o Kaino aukuro dūmai kamuoliais juda į visas puses. Kainas apsibarė su broliu Abeliu ir jį užmušė. Todėl ir gobelene šalia Abelio yra angelas, o greta Kaino moteris su vilku, kas simbolizuoja žiaurumą. |
