Exhibit description | Jehošafato Aspino (Jehoshaphat Aspin) veikalas Urania’s Mirror – A Familiar Treatise on Astronomy buvo išleistas 1823 metais. Jį sudarė 32 spalvingos kortelės, kurių tikslas – paprastus žmones supažindinti su astronomija. Kiekviena kortelė, vaizduojanti žvaigždyną, buvo su įvairaus dydžio skylutėmis – jos perteikė pagrindines žvaigždyno žvaigždes. Taurus Poniatowski (Poniatovskio Jautukas) kortelėje vaizduojamas su septyniomis pagrindinėmis žvaigždėmis. Norėdamas pagerbti Lenkijos Karalystės ir Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės valdovą Stanislovą Augustą Poniatovskį (1764–1795), Vilniaus karališkosios observatorijos vadovas Martynas Počobutas 1777 m. pasiūlė naują žvaigždyną pavadinti valdovo garbei. Gavus sutikimą iš Prancūzijos Karališkosios mokslų akademijos, Stanislovui Augustui Poniatovskiui dedikuotas žvaigždynas Taureau Royal de Poniatowski išspausdintas Žano Forteno (Jean Fortin) Atlas Céleste. XIX a. žemėlapiuose žvaigždynas arba išnykdavo, arba įsiterpdavo į kitus žvaigždynus. Problema buvo išspręsta 1928 m., standartizavus žvaigždžių žemėlapius, tačiau nemažai žvaigždynų, tarp jų ir Poniatovskio Jautukas, išnyko iš žvaigždžių žemėlapių. Dabar šiam valdovui dedikuoto žvaigždyno žvaigždės priskirtos figūrai, žinomai Gyvatnešio vardu. Be šios figūros, Poniatovskio žvaigždynui priklausė Jautis, vaizduotas prie gyvatės uodegos (šis gyvūnas pasirinktas, nes valdovo šeimos herbe yra jautis), ir Skydas. Žvaigždynas buvo įsiterpęs virš Skorpiono ir tarp Heraklio bei Erelio žvaigždynų. Eksponatą 2015 m. padovanojo prof. dr. Kęstutis Paulius Žygas (JAV)
