Exhibit description | Antonijus Posevinas (Antonio Possevino, 1534–1611) – italų jėzuitas, rašytojas, diplomatas. Gimė Mantujoje (Italija), 1559 m. įstojo į Jėzuitų ordiną, nuo 1560 m. dirbo Savojoje ir pietų Prancūzijoje – šiuose kraštuose steigė kolegijas ir joms vadovavo, taip pat užsiėmė kita veikla, susijusia su katalikybės stiprinimu. 1561-aisiais buvo įšventintas į kunigus, 1573 m. paskirtas jėzuitų generolo sekretoriumi. 1578-aisiais pradėjo savo diplomatinę veiklą – popiežius Grigalius XIII nusiuntė jį kaip legatą į Švedijos karalystę, 1581 m. – į Lietuvos Didžiąją Kunigaikštystę ir Maskvos kunigaikštystę. 1581 m. birželio 13 d. Vilniuje buvo susitikęs su Steponu Batoru. Vėlesnė A. Posevino veikla taip pat buvo susijusi su Lietuva. 1582 m. popiežius nusiuntė jį į Respubliką, ten jo priežiūrai buvo pavestos visos šiaurės Europoje esančios popiežiškosios seminarijos. 1586 m. A. Posevinas grįžo į Italiją, dirbo Paduvos kolegijoje. Parašė apie 50 veikalų. Europoje buvo ypač populiarus jo veikalas Moscovia. Pirmasis leidimas buvo išspausdintas Vilniuje 1586 metais. Knygoje autorius apibūdino Maskvos kunigaikštystės geopolitinę padėtį, aptarė ką tik pasibaigusio Livonijos karo rezultatus, pateikė taikos derybų Jam Zapolėje dokumentus. Knyga buvo daug kartų perspausdinta, versta į kitas kalbas. Valdovų rūmų muziejuje saugomas A. Posevino veikalo Moscovia egzempliorius, išleistas 1587 m. Antverpene, garsiojoje Kristofo Planteno (Christophe Plantin, apie 1520–1589) leidykloje. Ypač vertingas knygos pradžioje esantis Maskvos kunigaikštystės žemėlapis, parengtas pagal Antonio Dženkinsono (Anthony Jenkinson, 1529–1610/1611) sudarytą žemėlapį.
