Description
Exhibit description | Zigmuntas Mečislovas Čaikovskis (Zygmunt Mieczysław Czaykowski, 1887–1950) – architektas, Vilniaus miesto tyrinėtojas. Gimė Varšuvoje, tarnavo Rusijos kariuomenėje, kurį laiką – Lenkijos kariuomenėje. Baigė Paryžiaus specialiąją architektūros mokyklą. Buvo vedęs prancūzę Mari Le Fiur (Marie Le Fur), susilaukė dviejų dukterų, tačiau 1925-aisiais šeima iširo. Nuo 1924 m. su pertraukomis dirbo pavieto architektu Mazovijoje. 1938 m. apsigyveno Vilniuje, dirbo architektu, daug laiko skyrė architektūros paminklų tyrimams. Z. M. Čaikovskį ypač domino, kaip atrodė Vilnius Viduramžiais. Jis darė prielaidas, kad kai kurie pastatai, pavyzdžiui, Subačiaus vartai, buvo pastatyti anksčiau nei XVI a., kai buvo statomos miesto sienos. Subačiaus vartus jis siejo su anksčiau šioje vietoje galėjusiais būti gynybiniais statiniais. Architektas kūrė istorines rekonstrukcijas, daugiausia 1941 metais. Dirbo Vilniaus miesto savivaldybės Architektūros skyriuje, bendradarbiavo su Juozapu Kamarausku, Vytautu Landsbergiu-Žemkalniu, dirbo prie Vilniaus pastatų inventorizacijos, Gedimino bokšto atstatymo. Gamino Vilniaus pilių modelius, vėliau jie buvo saugomi Vilniaus miesto muziejuje rotušėje. Mirė Vilniuje 1950 metais. Parodoje eksponuojamas ir kataloge pristatomas 1941 m. datuotas Z. M. Čaikovskio pasirašytas brėžinys, kuriame vaizduojama Gedimino kalne esančių rūmų siena iš vakarų pusės ir laiptų projektas. Lapo viršuje yra autoriaus įrašas lietuvių kalba – Gedymino kalnas.
