Exhibit description | Nuo ankstyvųjų Viduramžių paplitęs Švč. Mergelės Marijos vaizdavimas dailėje buvo labai populiarus Gotikos, Renesanso ir Baroko epochose. Švč. Mergelės Marijos kultas itin sustiprėjo ir pradėjo plisti XII–XIII a., per kryžiaus karus. Beveik visos tuo metu statytos katedros skirtos Švč. Dievo Motinos garbei. Palaipsniui Vakarų Europos dailėje susiformavo įvairūs Marijos vaizdavimo tipai (pavyzdžiui, Marija, sėdinti soste; Marija, maitinanti Kūdikį; Marija su Kūdikiu ir knyga; Marija rožių soste; Dievo Motina su šventaisiais ir donatoriais ir pan.). Valdovų rūmų muziejaus skulptūra yra vienas iš gražių Švč. Mergelės Marijos vaizdavimo pavyzdžių. Labai dažnai, taip pat ir šiame kūrinyje po Marijos kojomis vaizduojamas mėnulio pjautuvas, nuo seniausių laikų tai skaistumo ženklas. Marijos galvą puošia karūna, simbolizuojanti dangiškąją karalystę. Aukso ir melsvos spalvų drabužius sudaro daugybė iškilių klosčių, o tai itin būdinga gotikinėms skulptūroms. Krikščionybėje auksas tradiciškai simbolizuoja meilę. Manoma, kad Švč. Mergelės Marijos skulptūra sukurta Vokietijoje dirbusio skulptoriaus Niklauso Vekmano (Niklaus Weckmann, minimas 1481–1526) dirbtuvėse. Apie meistrą nėra išlikę daug žinių, tačiau jis minimas tarp Ulmo miestiečių. Šiame mieste N. Vekmanas apie 1500 m. įsteigė dirbtuves, jose kurtos medinės religinės tematikos skulptūros. Tuo metu tai buvo vienos didžiausių tokio pobūdžio dirbtuvių Ulmo mieste. Šiuo metu yra išlikę apie 600 kūrinių, kurie siejami su N. Vekmano dirbtuvėmis. Meistro sūnūs Klausas Vekmanas (Claus Weckmann) ir Jeronimas Vekmanas (Hieronymus Weckmann) taip pat buvo susiję su menu ir dirbo dailininkais. N. Vekmanui ir jo dirbtuvėms priskiriamų skulptūrų yra įvairiuose pasaulio muziejuose. Viena įspūdingiausių jam priskiriamų skulptūrų, vaizduojančių soste sėdinčią Švč. Mergelę Mariją su Kūdikiu, yra Vienos meno istorijos muziejuje. |
