In 2012, the Rūta sweets factory invited the most curious chocolate lovers into its old building – where the Rūta factory’s Chocolate Museum was established.

In the exhibition space, visitors get acquainted with the history of a factory functioning for a century as well as the peculiarities and mysteries of chocolate consumption. The Museum’s visitors discover where “chocolate trees” grow, how the Mayans and Aztecs made chocolate and how its consumption traditions have changed with the passage of time. Information is also displayed on the first chocolate factories in Lithuania.

Visitors are offered the opportunity to join interactive activities. One can have a photo taken or make a sweet wrapper and send it to friends by email as well as play various chocolate-related games. 

The Museum welcomes visitors who have registered in advance.

Collections

The Museum collects, preserves and displays exhibits related to the history of the Rūta factory and chocolate, its consumption traditions in various countries, and the products made by the Rūta factory.
