Information about the museum

The Palanga Resort Museum acts as a multifunctional cultural centre. It collects, preserves, researches, promotes and represents museum valuables: the significant collection of the visual heritage of Palanga and artefacts discovered during archaeological research in the Palanga area.

The museum was founded in 2013 in the restored Anapilis Villa near the main J. Basanavičius Street. The building with unique wooden architecture is one of the oldest in the Lithuanian seaside resort. At the same time, it was one of the first preserved family villas built by Counts Tiskiewicz as early as at the end of the 19th century.

The building, which has the status of a cultural monument and is protected by the state, has two floors with small towers. The first floor hosts cultural events and exhibitions, while the second is home to a permanent interactive exhibition. In the latter, visitors can learn about Palanga's past, the development of the city's economy and culture, and the most prominent personalities of the resort. The museum offers visitors the chance to hear the impressive sounds of a wind organ and to go on a timeline journey. The museum also has a hall of mirrors.
