Chaimas Frenkelis Villa is one of the most impressive places for cultural tourism in Lithuania. A restored luxury villa with a park, a fountain adorning it and the Thousand Rose Park is one of the few buildings that represents 20th century modern architecture in Lithuania. Its authentic interior is charming with its surviving wood finish, ornate moldings and fragments of frescoes.
In 1908, in Šiauliai, close to their prosperous Leather Factory, Chaimas and Dora Frenkelis built a two-storey residence villa. The year of construction has been assumed referring to the weathercock on the roof. The architect of the villa is unknown. Chaimas Frenkelis Villa is the only building in Šiauliai and one of the few in Lithuania built in the Art Noveau architectural style at the beginning of the 20th century.
In the Chaimas Frenkelis Villa, many engineering novelties of the turn of the 20th century were realized: running water, central heating, electricity and telephone were installed. The family of Chaimas and Dora Frenkelis used to live here until World War I. During the interwar years they used the right part of the Villa with a separate entrance, while Šiauliai Hebrew Gymnasium occupied the left part and was functioning here. From 1940, for more than 50 years, this building used to house military medical institutions. At first, the Villa became a Soviet military hospital, later a lazaretto of the Whermacht, and from 1944 it settled the hospital of the Baltic military district of the Soviet Army. In the Soviet time, during reconstruction of the building, the exterior of the Villa was damaged. Still, the major part of the interiors: wooden linings, staircases, panels, ornamented oak parquets and doors with impressive bays remained intact. In 1993, the Villa was handed over to the Šiauliai Aušros Museum.
At present, Chaimas Frenkelis Villa functions as a historical cultural centre, the goal of which is to reveal to the visitors the multi-layer cultural heritage of Lithuania and all Europe. The exhibition “Provincial Estate and a Town in the Middle of the19th – Middle of the 20th Centuries” shows valuables, brought to the museum from the nationalized in 1940-1941 Šiauliai disrtrict manors. The personality of the former owner of the Villa – Chaimas Frenkelis - and his activity in Šiauliai city are presented in brief at the beginning of the exhibition.

The Bicycle Museum – the only bicycle museum in Lithuania! It is a subdivision of Šiauliai "Aušros" museum. The main exhibition at the Bicycle Museum "Bicycle and Lithuania" introduces the visitors to the history of the bicycle and its evolution up to the present day. The exhibition contains the first Lithuanian home-made bicycles made of wood and iron, the bicycles manufactured in Germany, England and other countries, which used to be the most popular in Lithuania up to the Second World War, as well as contemporary bicycles, velomobiles and their accessories.
The Bicycle Museum has been founded in 1980 and has been established at Šiauliai Bicycle and Motor Factory "Vairas" for five years. Later the museum has been moved to the current premises at Vilniaus street, the house marked with the number 140. In 1993, with a changed economic situation at the "Vairas" company, seeking to preserve the Bicycle Museum, it has been transferred to Šiauliai "Aušros" museum and has become its subdivision. The museum not only collects, preserves and exhibits bicycles, but also organizes various events. A bicycle is presented here not only as one of the oldest and most popular means of transport, but also as the means of the worldwide popular cycling sports. We invite to start the acquaintance with bicycles on the third floor of the museum. The exhibition there contains exhibits of bicycle models, as well as the newest part of the exhibition – "Bicycle Sports in Lithuania".

Photography Museum is a specialized museum of photography art, one and only in Lithuania. It is an important multifunctional center, which preserves and represents significant collection of 150 000 objects, an important part of Lithuanian visual heritage: photographs, technology and equipment of photography, collection of prints and documents, other objects. In 2014^th, modernized museum started to organize photography exhibitions of contemporary and historical Lithuania, as well as foreign exhibitions. Meetings with authors and researchers of photography art and other innovative educational and recreational activities are organized. By the agreement of three parties in 2014^th, Lithuanian Ministry of Culture, Šiauliai Aušros Museum and Tatjana-Luckienė-Aldag, in Photography Museum Vitas Luckus photography Center was established. In the Center research on art of Lithuanian Photography of the second half of 20th century is made. Research on works of artists of the time and one of the most conceptual representatives of his time, Vitas Luckus are made. In Photography Museum, the collection is preserved, recognition of the center is being built.

Museum of Radio and Television was founded in 1982, on the initiative of local historian Jonas Rimkevičius, with the help of a group of pre-war radio amateurs. In 1994, Museum of Radio and Television has become a subdivision of Šiauliai Museum “Aušra”.

The permanent exhibition reveals the development of audio-visual and telecommunication devices since the 19th century. Also, rare device collections are introduced. The exhibition "Audio and Video Playback Devices" introduces the development of mechanical audio playback devices, telegraph, radio, television in Lithuania, unique music vending machines, gramophones, turntables, the first sound recording and reproducing device – a phonograph – are shown. A brief history of the telegraph and the principles of operation of this apparatus are introduced.

The house of Stanislava and Kazimieras Venclauskiai was built in 1925–1927 (architect K. Reisonas), where the family lived until 1944.  In 1955, the house was dedicated to the Šiauliai Museum “Aušra”. In 1959, the first post-war exhibition of the museum was opened here. 

In 1991, Danutė and Gražbylė Venclauskaitė donated the parents' house to the Šiauliai Museum “Aušra”. In 1992, the building was officially named Venclauskiai’ House.

In 1995, the exhibition of S. and K. Venclauskiai was opened. It highlights the family and social life of a famous interwar lawyer and a talented actress and director. In memory of the Venclauskiai family, who raised more than 100 abandoned and poor children, on the museum terrace the sculpture “Motherhood” (sculptor Antanas Šnaras) was unveiled in 1993. In 2005, the monument to lawyer Kazimieras Venclauskis (sculptor Gintautas Lukošaitis) was unveiled in the courtyard of the house.

Žaliūkiai Windmill reconstructed at the end of the 19th century is the only surviving and protected object of wooden architectural technology heritage in Šiauliai. It is also the first grain processing history museum in Lithuania and an important accent of the southern landscape of Šiauliai city. Žaliūkiai windmill was built by a German Gustav Daniel circa 1875–1880 at Žaliūkiai village of that time, after which the windmill was named. Later, in 1930, the windmill went to his son Evald Daniel, who was the last owner of the windmill until the year of 1940. The miller's farm – a two-end dwelling-house - situated near the windmill. In 1925 a stone building was built for a motor mill nearby. After it burned down, the building was used as stables and a barn. A house for a hired miller stood a bit further. The windmill used to be visited by farmers from surrounding villages. During the First World War it supplied flour for the bakery of the tsarist army garrison in Šiauliai.
In 1940, during the first Soviet occupation, the windmill was nationalized and in 1957 it stopped grinding altogether. Then Žaliūkiai windmill stood abandoned for about a decade. In 1967 it was transferred to Šiauliai "Aušros" Museum, which renovated the windmill and opened a milling exhibition in 1970. The exhibition displayed exhibits from the Iron Age to the contemporary times. Since 2000 Žaliūkiai windmill hosts the Days of the Old Crafts, which attract a large number of participants. In 2009 the windmill was reconstructed again, in 2011 the house of the miller was rebuilt.
Windmill construction and technological equipment is a valuable heritage of the engineering thought of the local masters, as well as an example of technological exchange between nations.
Lithuania is a land of wood culture traditions, therefore today the preservation of the construction materials, constructions and technologies of these buildings is very important.

Visitors are invited to explore the old Žaliūkiai windmill and the miller's farmstead. During the excursion everyone will find out the operating principles of the windmill's mechanisms, also learn about the process of milling flour and baking rye bread, as well as the everyday life of a wealthy miller of the beginning of the 20th century.
