Šaukėnai Local History Museum was founded in 1999. The exhibition introduces to the history of the small town, the manors of Šaukėnai, Beržėnai and their owners, as well as the famous people, who lived there – the former pastor of Šaukėnai, canon Jonas Staševičius (1870–1951), artists Valerija Zalensienė (1925–1997), linguist, professor Albertas Rosinas (1938–2010). 

The museum is located in the barn of Užventis Manor, that was restored in 1973. In the historical sources this manor is mentioned from the 15th century. In the period of 1887–1898 lithuanian writer, educator Marija Pečkauskaitė-Šatrijos Ragana (1877–1930) lived and created here. Later the manor belonged to Jonas Smilgevičius (1870–1942), a signatory of the Lithuanian Independence Act. 

The exhibition of the museum introduce visitors to the life of famous people, who lived in Užventis manor, as well as to the history of Užventis town.

Žalpiai Local History Museum was established in 2006, in the former school building, which was built in the first years of Lithuanian independence. 

The permanent exhibitions of the museum are dedicated to the commemoration of three famous men from this region – Jeronimas and Kazimieras Raliai, Jonas Garalevičius. Jeronimas Ralys (1876–1921) was a physician and first translator of Homer's “Odyssey“ and the “Iliad“, his brother Kazimieras Ralys (1885–1958) – a public figure, and Jonas Garalevičius (1871–1943) – the master of organ and string instruments. The museum exhibits historical photographs and documents, personal belongings of Jeronimas and Kazimieras Raliai, among them a huge traveling trunk of Jonas.
