A subdivision of the Tauragė Regional Museum, and established in 1977 as an exposition inside Skaudvilė School, the Skaudvilė Regional Museum collects information and exhibits relating to the cultural history and the people of the Skaudvilė region. 

Two renewed expositions are open to the public at the Skaudvilė Regional Museum, namely a hall dedicated to the ethnography of the region that displays various household tools for weaving and spinning, as well as agricultural equipment, and various other implements, and a second hall outlining the history of Skaudvilė throughout the centuries, including archaeological finds, exhibits reminiscent of the Second World War, the workplace of Skaudvilė’s county secretary, tools and implements used in pharmacies and the work of the craftsmen who made the town famous.

A subdivision of the Tauragė Regional Museum, the exhibits at the Exile and Resistance Museum started to be collected in 1996, and the exposition was officially opened in 1997. 

The museum is located inside the former headquarters of the Soviet security services. People who fought for the freedom of Lithuania were often held and tortured in its cells in the cellar, and so were a great deal of innocent individuals. At night, screams could often be heard coming from the building, and so the locals always tried to keep their distance. These days, the courtyard features a monument dedicated to the defenders of Lithuania’s freedom on the exact spot where tortured people were buried.

The museum collects information and exhibits relating to exiles, political prisoners and different activities related to partisan resistance that took place in the Tauragė region. In the cellar of the building is a new exposition equipped with smart technology that allows visitors to see a special chamber, a prison cell, an interrogator’s office and a partisan bunker. The cellar also has an educational space. The building’s ground floor provides information and exhibits related to exile. The most curious visitors will definitely enjoy the virtual reality glasses, that will help them visit \ partisan bunker where they’ll be able to see the living conditions of the participants of the resistance and feel the general atmosphere of the time.
