The Akmenė History Museum is a non-profit organization that aims to unite people interested in the history of the Akmenė area. The main goal of the museum is to collect, preserve, research, digitise and display cultural heritage objects representing the history of Akmenė and the region’s families. The organisation brings together local ethnographers, conducts ethnographic research and promotes public interest in history. Members of the organisation also engage in genealogical research of the families of the Akmenė region, promote and support genealogical tourism, and organise reunions of family members. Updates on the museum's activities are posted on the Akmenė History Museum Facebook account. The museum does not have a permanent exhibition.
