Information about the museum
The origin of the Lithuanian Photographers Association dates back to 1969, when the Lithuanian Society of Art Photography was founded. The Association has become one of the most important organisations coordinating the development of the art of photography in Lithuania. At present, the Association unites about 300 professional photographers. The Association’s priorities include: organising themed, historical, personal, retrospective and other kinds of exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad, accumulating an archive of works by Lithuanian photographers, and publishing.
The Lithuanian Photographers Association devotes a lot of attention to education. Since 1973, annual photography seminars have been held in Nida. Branches of the Lithuanian Photographers Association operate in Kaunas, Šiauliai and Panevėžys, often hosting lectures, book presentations, exhibitions, discussions, and meetings with photographers.
