Information about the museum

The Church Heritage Museum in Vilnius comprises three objects: the Treasury, the Bell Tower, and the Crypts. Our open cultural space invites exploration into the rich tapestry of church heritage. Discover an extraordinary collection featuring church art, artifacts and other exhibits significant for Lithuanian culture, and the largest array of liturgical textiles in Lithuania.
Our mission is to kindle a fascination with historical heritage, unveiling its universal allure. Every visitor is encouraged to initiate a personal dialogue with history and heritage. Through curated exhibitions, educational tours, and activities for kids, schoolchildren, and adults, we create an immersive experience at the museum. Among our activities is publishing and scientific research.

Our commitment extends to preserving, conserving, and restoring church valuables and textiles from the parishes of the Vilnius Archdiocese for future generations.

Besides the permanent exhibition in the Church of St. Michael the Archangel, the museum has two branches: the Crypts and the Bell Tower of Vilnius Cathedral.

	Crypts of Vilnius Cathedral	Katedros a. 2, Vilnius, LT-01143, Vilniaus m. sav., Lietuva	Information about the branch / unit The Crypts of Vilnius Cathedral, an invisible part of the building, present the history of the church, which is located in one of the earliest inhabited places of Vilnius, the development of the building and the figures of outstanding merit to the State and Church of Lithuania who are buried here. The exhibition set up in the crypts and aisles presents the burial traditions and archaeological finds and leads to the Royal Mausoleum. The crypts can be discovered on guided tours. New paths, such as the north side of the cathedral crypts, have been opened up to visitors. Here, one can see and learn about the rooms that for a long time were literally inaccessible, walled up or closed off.
	Bell Tower of Vilnius Cathedral	Katedros a. 2, Vilnius, LT-01143, Vilniaus m. sav., Lietuva	Information about the branch / unit The Bell Tower of Vilnius Cathedral is one of the most important landmarks of the city and a significant part of the Vilnius Cathedral Basilica, the Lower and Upper Castle complex. Its history dates back to the middle of the 13th century: the defensive tower that stood here became a bell tower in the 16th century and acquired its current appearance at the beginning of the 19th century. At the top of the bell tower, time is kept by the oldest clock in the city, mass is announced by ringing bells, the history of the tower is presented in an interactive exhibition and visitors can enjoy a breath-taking panorama of Vilnius from above.
