Exhibit description | Šis XVII amžiaus flamandų tapytojas buvo identifikuotas XX amžiaus antroje pusėje. Kurį laiką jis buvo painiojamas su bendrapavardžiu Adrianu van de Vene arba vadinamas „pseudo van de Vene“. |

Information about historical, cultural and art object
Plot | Ši drobė nutapyta pagal Senojo Testamento Tobito knygoje papasakotą istoriją (Tob 4–12). Joje pasakojama, kad apakusio tėvo, dievobaimingojo Tobito, pavedimu jaunasis Tobijas iškeliavo į Mediją atgauti iš skolininkų tėvui priklausančių pinigų. Kadangi jaunuolio laukė sunki ir pavojinga kelionė, jis susirado palydovą. Kelionės metu, pasiekus Tigro upę, Tobijas panoro išsimaudyti. Staiga iššokusi didžiulė žuvis norėjo jį praryti. Palydovas liepė nesibaiminant sugauti žuvį ir, ją išdarinėjus, pasiimti širdį, tulžį ir kepenis. Širdis ir kepenys, pasak jo, padedančios išvaryti iš apsėsto žmogaus piktąsias dvasias, o tulžis gydanti aklumą. Taip, padedant pakeleiviui, Tobijas laimingai pasiekė Mediją, atgavo tėvo skolas. Pakeleiviui patarus, sudegintų žuvies vidurių pelenais jis išvarė iš jaunos apsėstos merginos Saros piktąsias dvasias ir ją vedė. Grįžęs namo į Ninevę, Tobijas sugautos žuvies tulžimi patepė tėvo akis, ir šis vėl atgavo regėjimą. Tėvas ir sūnus norėjo dosniai atsidėkoti gerajam pakeleiviui, tačiau šis, pasakęs, kadesąs Dievo siųstas arkangelas Rapolas ir jiems padėjęs atsidėkodamas už jų tikėjimą ir dievobaimingumą, išnyko. |
