Exhibit description | Nespalvota, vertikalaus formato, dokumentinė nuotrauka, atspausta XX a. 7 dešimtmetyje iš palangiškės fotografės Paulinos Mongirdaitės daryto originalaus stiklinio negatyvo, saugomo Kretingos muziejaus rinkiniuose. Kretingos bernardinų (pranciškonų observantų) bažnyčios senasis Šv. Antano altorius. Altorius medinis, dviejų horizontalių tarpsnių. Mensa stačiakampė, priekinę jos plokštumą puošia Apvaizda ir augalinio motyvo ornamentas. Priešais yra dviejų pakopų laipteliai, ant kurių dešinėje pusėje sėdi mergaitė. Altoriaus pirmojo tarpsnio viduryje kabo stebuklingas Šv. Antano paveikslas, puoštas metaliniu aptaisu. Aplinkui jį sukabintos votos. Paveikslą altoriaus šonuose rėmina po tris kolonas. Viršutinio tarpsnio viduryje kabo nedidelis Švč. Trejybės paveikslas, kurį šonuoe rėmina po kolonėlę. Pakraščiuose stovi dvi šventųjų skulptūros. Abipus altoriaus kabo Kryžiaus kelio paveikslai, o kairėje pusėje kyšo sakyklos kraštas. Nuotraukos kraštai lygūs. Nugarinėje pusėje juodu pieštuku įrašyta Kretingos kraštotyros muziejaus direktoriaus Juozo Mickevičiaus pastaba: „Kretingos bažn. Šv. Antano / altorius 1907 m.“ Šv. Antano altorius pastatytas XVIII amžiuje. Jį 1759 m. liepos 22 d. konsekravo Žemaičių vyskupas Antanas Domininkas Tiškevičius. Altoriuje buvo saugomos Šv. kankinių Simplicijaus ir Faustino relikvijos, o nuo 1862 m. – ir Šv. Antano Paduviečio relikvijos, kurias užantspaudavo Žemaičių vyskupas Motiejus Kazimieras Valančius, leisdamas išstatyti viešam pagarbinimui antradieniais ir Viešpaties dienomis. Relikvijas aplankiusiems buvo suteikiami 40 dienų atlaidai. Altorius stovėjo bažnyčios navos dešinėje pusėje, tarp įėjimo ir klausyklos. Per 1908–1912 m. bažnyčios rekonstrukciją Šv. Antano paveikslas buvo perkeltas į buvusį Šv. Pranciškaus altorių, o senasis altorius demontuotas, panaudojant jo puošybos detales ir skulptūras kitiems altoriams renovuoti. |
