Description
Exhibit description | 1623 m. kankinio mirtimi miręs Polocko unitų arkivyskupas Juozapatas Kuncevičius palaimintuoju paskelbtas 1642 m. (šventuoju – 1867 m.). Jo palaikai ištaigingame sidabriniame sarkofage ilsėjosi Polocko katedroje. Tačiau 1705 m. Rusijos caro Petro I armijai užėmus miestą, palaimintojo kūnas buvo skubiai perkeltas į Karolio Stanislovo Radvilos valdomą Bialos rezidenciją. Maždaug tuo laiku, pasinaudojant palaikų perkėlimu, Vilniaus katedra įsigijo gana didelę palaimintojo kankinio kaulo dalį, kuriai ir buvo užsakytas sarkofago formos, unitų arkivyskupo mitra vainikuotas, akantų ornamentais iškalstytas relikvijorius. Šis relikvijorius iki pat Antrojo pasaulinio karo buvo nešamas kasmetinėse procesijose Šv. Juozapato šventės proga. |
