The formation of Kražiai Museum began in 1966, when the 350^th anniversary of Kražiai School was celebrated. On the occasion of its anniversary, its teachers prepared an exhibition called “Kražiai School Road“. In 1969 a small school museum was established. After 7 years it was moved to Kražiai College building. In 1987 the museum was housed in new premises, the former neighborhood building, where it operated until 2008. In 2008, after the renovation of the former Kražiai College building, a multifunctional Kražiai Motiejus Kazimieras Sarbievijus Cultural Center opened its doors to visitors, the old museum was moved to new premises.

The museum, housed in the renovated college building, provides an insight into the history of Kražiai town, Jotvingiai Cross Knights Order, college founded by the Jesuits.

The mission of the centre is to conserve traditions of former Kražiai Jesuit College for future generations, ensure their spread and accessibility to Lithuanian and foreign visitors, provide them with high-quality culture and tourism services, develop educational activity and create conditions for spiritual perfection and purposeful recreation of every citizen.
