Description
Exhibit description | Laikrodis, vandens, ištekantis, „klepsidra”. Jį sudaro molinis vamzdis su aguonos galvutės pavidalo antgaliu su skylute per kurį išteka vanduo. Vandens laikrodžių yra išlikę nedaug. Pagal veikimo principą jie skirstomi į ištekančius, pritekančius bei persipilančius vandens laikrodžius. Skirtingai nuo Saulės laikrodžių, vandens laikrodis gali veikti ir dieną, ir naktį, ir bet kokiu oru. V a. pr. Kristų ištekančius vandens laikrodžius pradėjo naudoti graikai. Jie tokius laikrodžius vadino „klepsidromis“ – lotyniškai tai reiškia „vogti vandenį“. Klepsidros buvo naudojamos teismuose. Kaltinamiesiems buvo leidžiama kalbėti vieną klepsidrą, t. y. kol ištekės vanduo iš indo. Kita vertus, kai sustabdoma kaltinamojo kalba vandens tekėjimas sustabdomas nykščiu uždengiant inde esančią skylutę. Pavyzdžiui, kai teisėjas, pageidaudavo, kad jam suteiktų dvigubai daugiau laiko kalbai, jis paprašydavęs pridėti „klepsidrai klepsidrą“. Jei oratoriui kalbant dėl kokių nors priežasčių nustodavo bėgti vanduo, sakydavo, kad jis „vandenį uždelsė“. Tacitas vandens laikrodžius laikė „plepumo apynasriais“. Tam, kas mėgdavo visą dieną plepėti, taikydavo posakį „tuščiai vandenį leidžia“. Kai oratorius nepilstydavo „iš tuščio į kiaurą“ ir klausytojams patikdavo jo kalba, publika šaukdavo „Clepsydris, clepsydris addare“ – „Pridėkite, pridėkite jam klepsidrą“, t. y. pridėkite jam papildomo laiko. Jei kalba tapdavo neįdomi, šaukdavo, jog jis „tuščiai vandenį leidžia“. Ištekantieji vandens laikrodžiai buvo naudojami kariuomenėje keičiant sargybinius. Anatomijos veikalo autorius graikas Herofilas pritaikė klepsidrą ligonių pulsui skaičiuoti. |
