Exhibit description | Laikrodis, stalinis su kūgine švytuokle ir stikliniu gaubtu. Laikrodžio korpusas pakabintas tarp šešių postamentą ir stogelį jungiančių kolonėlių. Viršutinė postamento dalis apjuosta bronziniu ažūriniu pagražinimu, o stogelį puošia kupolas su septyniais bokšteliais. Švytuoklė sudaryta iš keturių atšakų, prie kurių pritvirtinti rutuliai, užsibaigiantys mažyčiais bokšteliais. Ji ne švytuoja, o sukasi, periodiškai keisdama kryptį. Kas pirmasis laikrodyje panaudojo švytuoklę nėra žinoma. Istoriniuose šaltiniuose minima, kad pirmasis švytuoklę laikui matuoti pritaikė arabų mokslininkas Ibn Junis (Ibn Yunus) 1008 metais. Šio mechanizmo veikimo principas liko nežinomas. Švytuoklės pritaikymas Europoje siejamas su XV a. italų inžinierių darbais, kurie galvojo, kad švytuoklę galima panaudoti slenkamai-grįžtamajam judesiu gauti siurbliuose. Pirmoji įamžinta idėja panaudoti švytuoklę laikrodžiuose yra išlikusi Leonardo da Vinčio (Leonardo da Vinci, 1452–1519) rankraščiuose. Mūsų laikus pasiekė šio plačiai pasaulyje žinomo menininko, mokslininko, mąstytojo, inžinieriaus keli eskizai, kuriuose pavaizduotas eigos reguliatorius – švytuoklė, tačiau prie jos nėra kokių nors jos veikimo principų, paaiškinimų. Šiandien tyrinėtojai daugiausia linkę teikti, kad švytuoklinių laikrodžių išradimas turi būti siejamas su dviem vardais – italų astronomo, matematiko, filosofo bei fiziko Galilėjo Galilėjumi (it. Galileo Galilei, 1564–1642,) ir olandų astronomo Kristijano Heigenso (Christian Huygens, 1629–1695). Kristianas Heigensas 1656 m. suprojektavo, užpatentavo ir pagamino pirmąjį švytuoklinį laikrodį. Pirmąjį komercinį švytuoklinį laikrodį pagal K. Heigenso išradimą 1657 m. pagamino Saliamonas Kosteris (Salomon Coster, 1620–1659) Olandijoje. 1659–1660 K. Heigensas sugalvojo reguliatorių, kurio švytuoklė ne svyruoja, bet sukasi lanku horizontalioje plokštumoje. Pirmasis laikrodis su tokio tipo švytuokle buvo pagamintas 1668 metais. |
