Poetas, dramaturgas, literatūros kritikas. Aldžernonas Čarlsas Svinbernas (Algernon Charles Swirburne) gimė 1837 m. balandžio 5 d. Londone, Didžiojoje Britanijoje.

1849–1835 m. mokėsi Etono koledže (Eton College), kur pradėjo rašyti poeziją.  1856–1860 m. studijavo Balliol koledže, Oksforde (Balliol College, Oxford), bet nebaigė. Kai jau nebestudijavo, persikėlė į Londoną ir pradėjo intensyviai rašyti. Autoriaus žodynas, rimas ir ritmas labai išraiškingi, vyrauja meilės poetika. Vėlesnėje kūryboje atsiranda filosofijos, politikos idėjų, o meilės poezija tampa nebe tokia drąsi ir šokiruojanti. Jis buvo 6 kartus nominuotas Nobelio literatūros premijai (1903–1907 m. ir 1909 m.). Kadangi A. Svinbernas turėjo problemų su alkoholiu, jį globoti apsiėmė jo draugas Teodoras Vatsas (Theodore Watts).

Poetas mirė 1909 m. balandžio 10 d. Londone, Didžiojoje Britanijoje.
