Information about the museum

The Vilnius University Museum of Zoology is a modern and stylish institution, despite being the oldest museum of zoological sciences in Lithuania. It dates back to the 16th century. Visitors can discover unique exhibits and collections here: a two-headed calf bled by the ravenous soldiers who attacked Vilnius; a collection of parasitic worms; birds from Count Konstanty Tyzenhauz; and ancient whale parts that even Tsar Alexandr I himself travelled to see.

It is not just the exhibits that fascinate visitors, the museum's building does too. The Life Sciences Centre opened in 2016 in a modern building that was nominated in 2017 by the renowned architecture magazine ArchDaily in the category of Best Cultural Object.
