Information about the museum
The VMU AA Museum is a part of Vytautas Magnus University Agriculture Academy. Previously, the Museum belonged to the then-Aleksandras Stulginskis University / Lithuanian University/Academy of Agriculture. As the museum of the history of that scientific institution, the Museum was established in 1974, marking the 50th anniversary of the Academy’s founding.
Today the Museum ranks among the more exceptional museums, describing the agriculture of the country as well as its history and achievements. The Museum not only describes the academic development of agriculture, but also preserves unique memories of studies at the Academy during various periods.
The updated exhibition space of the Museum, arranged in the form of a tree, presents the Academy’s history from its origins at the old Vilnius University to the present day. The exhibition’s interpretative historical-educational narrative was created based on the principle of “fragmented memory”: the memories, facts, events, photographic and video shots arise from the past and are merged with those of the present.
