Exhibit description | Karacena, karaceniniai šarvai (it. corazzina, lenk. karacena) – šarvai, kuriuos sudaro odos arba storos drobės palaidinė su prikniedytais ar prisiūtais metalo žvynais, kartais paauksuotais, papuoštais rozetėmis, įspaustu ornamentu ir kt. Kartais nešioti su šalmu iš metalo žvynų. Žvyniniai šarvai dėvėti jau senovės Romoje (lot. lorica squamata), paplito viduramžiais. XVII–XVIII a. Abiejų Tautų Respublikoje brangius, sunkius, reprezentacinius karaceninius šarvus dėvėjo valdovas, aukščiausieji karo vadai, husarai, šarvininkų ir petihorų vėliavų karininkai. Lenkijoje ir Lietuvoje tokie šarvai paplito Jono Sobieskio valdymo laikais. Kai kurių dalių formą karaceniniai šarvai paveldėjo iš husarų šarvų. Jie buvo puošiami brangiais audiniais ir įvairiais dekoro elemenais, pavyzdžiui, maskaronais – dažniausiai iš žalvario pagamintais žmonių veidais, pavaizduotais su žvėries akimis ir ausimis. Prie krūtinšarvų ir šarvinių antkaklių pritvirtintose plokštelėse būdavo vaizduojami šarvų savininkų herbai. |
